Ted and I have had many conversations with each other about "accidents" and if they are real or not. I know that sounds strange to ask if accidents are real, but are they? I mean, call me crazy, but I don't feel like anything that has happened in my life is an accident. I can see God's hand in all of it. Especially in the hard times. I used to contemplate whether life and death was random. If we just died on a whim. Or, was there a time and place for everything? Is there a master plan out there? Did we know the plan before we came? Those are all questions I know will be answered later in life, I'm sure. But for now, what hope can I hold onto that keeps me sane from all the "accidents" that happen? Especially the painful ones.
Some accidents are good. Some are not. But after the accident happens, is there any peace that comes to those involved or connected to the accident? Do they ever feel like things are right again? Or is there always a hole in their lives, filled with questions or doubt?
The accidents in my life have always filled me with a sense of unknowing. But there's always been peace later. Whether the peace comes moments or years down the road, it comes. It brings a sweet relief and knowing that even though this event was unexpected, it happened for a reason. A reason that will bless my life and bring me closer to my Heavenly Father. When peace comes, I notice God's helping hands. Many "ah ha" moments follow. But the years without peace bring many unanswered questions; questions that sometimes get answered and others that don't. That is, until I'm ready or prepared to hear or know that answer.
My dad always told me that, "Time heals all wounds." Maybe that's the key to life...that if we wait long enough, stay patient, and look for God's hands, that eventually our eyes will be opened and we'll be able to see the goodness and blessings through all the uncertainty.
So I guess, in a way, I answered my own question. Maybe there are no accidents. As for me and my life, there are no accidents. But what about your life? Are there accidents? If your answer is yes, what is God trying to help you with? Can you see His hands guiding and comforting you? Have you looked to God for answers? Or are you trying to do it all on your own?
Just some thoughts that came to mind before I laid down for bed. Feel free to ponder. No need to respond.
