Sleep streak

I just hate those nights when you lay awake, unable to sleep. Then when you do get to sleep, you wake up a million times. By the time the husband wakes up to go to work, all hope for rest is gone. So you get up and start your day, even though you're tired, sick, your baby is fighting off the flu, and you know it's going to be an extra long day.
This is my day today.
I haven't always had sleep problems. Heck, when my grandma used to come stay at our house, my parents would have her sleep in my room, because I was the only one who could sleep through all the snoring. And trust me, it was bad.
When Ted and I first got married, I could sleep through most anything, even his snoring. But as soon as Hesston came along, my sleeping went with it. I go through phases where I'll get as little as 2-3 hours of sleep a night for a month or two, and still be able to function, albeit, not as well as I'd like, but I do. I still get everything done in the day that needs to get done, but it feels like when I go to bed, my brain wants to keep going...on and on and on. I can't shut it off.
I know my dad had the same issue. He'd go to bed around 11 pm and be up by 4 or 5 with several wake ups in between. Guess I inherited his sleep schedule, along with his migraines.
Maybe I'm not exhausting myself enough. Maybe I need to be more physical during the day. I feel like I sleep better after a long walk, or a session of Krav Maga. Maybe the only way my brain will shut down is if I push my body so hard that it makes my brain shut down. Because my brain seems to like to go all day and night. It doesn't like rest. It just wants to go go go.
I've heard many writers say that the best writing is done at night. Maybe that's my brain telling me to get up and write...because let's be honest, during he day, I'm so happy being busy with Hesston that I don't even think about writing. I just enjoy every moment.
Well, Hesston just woke up. Off to another day of fun! Hope I sleep tonight, because this is day 5 of my no sleep streak, and with being sick, it's taking much longer to feel better.
