36 Weeks and Memorial Day Camping Trip

First of all, thank you to everyone who posted tips and helpful information on the last post! It it a huge help, and I will be using all of your advice. I actually used Wool lite to wash the clothes and blankets, and am hoping that will work just fine, and our little guy won't mind the chemicals.    We've had some fun this last week! As you can see, camping and smores have been on our agenda!
So, Ted thought it would be a good idea to get these jumbo marsh mellows for roasting over the fire while we were camping. The kids and Ted loved them, but the parents hated them. They make for a big mess, especially when you put them on smores. But, it made for a lot of fun and a good memory. It was funny, we went to roast the marsh mellows and realized we didn't have any wood, so we got out the BBQ and roasted marsh mellows over the grill until someone went and got wood. Ha ha. Everyone loved the idea of grilled marsh mellows, and they turned out just as gooey.
The camping trip was in Bear Lake with Ted's family, and yes, I was 35 1/2 weeks pregnant on this camping trip. Ha ha. We stayed at the Bear Lake KOA in Garden City, Utah...which I highly recommend. They had tons of fun activities for the kids, including a heated pool and hot tube, miniature golf, jumping thing, play ground, bikes, and tractor rides. All the kids loved the activities. And, if you don't want to stay in a tent and don't have a camper, just stay in one of their cabins. They have really nice cabins that are heated. So, if you get cold, you have a place to cuddle up in. Speaking of cold, the weather was quite chilly while we were there. It rained for two days (Saturday and Sunday), but by Monday, the sun came out and showed it's pretty face. Monday felt quite warm, getting up to the 60's and everyone took advantage of the warm weather.
Our trusty Dodge that has been with us since the beginning of our relationship, and our new camp trailer. We found this trailer on Craigslist for a way good deal and couldn't pass it up. The people who were selling it were from Blackfoot, well, Thomas area, if you know where that is at. They are the Isom's. They have an orchard that they planted in memory of their son who passed away at 5 years old, from a rare auto-immune disease he got from immunizations when he was a baby. They have a really touching story, and the mom has written a book about her journey. It is called, "Little Green Apples". It is a great read if you have some time on your hands. But, the camp trailer is a 1996 Wildwood by Rockwood. It is 26 feet long, and is like living in luxury. We couldn't believe all the things it came with, and everything works. It has a huge fridge (which I love, because I cook all the meals when we are camping, and I usually cook big meals-don't know why, but I do), an air conditioning and heater system, bathroom and shower, queen sized walk around bed, sleeper sofa, sleeper table, microwave, oven, stove top, built-in radio/stereo system, and TV/DVD with satellite system. When we went camping, it didn't really feel like camping, especially with running water, electricity, and sewage pump out. I want to go camping every weekend before the baby gets here so we can really take advantage of the trailer, just not go as far as Utah. Stay more local, within an hour of our hospital. :)
We actually had two days of camping before Memorial Day weekend. We went down to Wellsville, Utah for a foot zoning class, and stayed behind the instructor's house. You should see his house and landscaping! Before he was a foot zoner and instructor, he was a landscaper, and his yard is amazing! He had a fire pit we used and tons of cool features. It was fun to camp in his backyard. So, we had 5 days of camping, which made for a lot of memories.
While we were at the instructor's house, I got really sick on Friday night, was throwing up, and had symptoms like food poisoning. It was awful. My body was going into shock, and we were super nervous it was going to throw my body into labor. So, we called the doctor at 2 am, and he suggested we go to the hospital. But, since we were behind our instructor's house, we just called him and asked him what to do. He had us go into the house and he zoned me, at 2:30 am, for about an hour. He really worked on my digestive system and pulled me out of shock by using points on my feet. After the zone, my body relaxed, and I was able to get some sleep from about 4:00 am to 6:30 am. By the next morning, I was feeling a ton better. Thanks to Brad, the instructor, I was able to have a full day of driving and camping, along with the rest of the weekend. I feel so blessed to have foot zoning in my life! It is a miracle! Ted and I were able to conceive after 5 years of trying to have a baby because of foot zoning, and now it has kept me from going into early labor. Who knows what else it has done for me! I just feel very blessed, and can't wait to help other people! Ted is actually in Rexburg right now, working away at a salon. He is such a hard worker! I just love and appreciate him so much!
This is a cute little store front area in Bear Lake at the St. Charles crossroads. Ted loved the look of them and had to snap a picture. We really like unique shops like these.
On Monday, Ted, Zach, Adam, Jake Sr., Jake Jr., and Nate all went out on the boat. The water was freezing, and the wind was cold, but they were determined to get a ride in, especially since Jake had brought the boat over from Twin Falls. They wanted to wake board, but the prop was too small. I guess you need a bigger prop to pull a person at higher elevations. They all seemed to enjoy the boat ride though, and even ate raspberry shakes right after the ride. Ha ha. The girls and kids stayed at the KOA and went swimming. Somehow I got caught in the middle, and spent the couple hours in the camp trailer reading, while I waited for the boys to get done. But, it was some rest and relaxation that was needed.
Here is Zach...I love how he has on a hoodie with his swim trunks. This just shows how cold it was.
Adam, Jake Jr., and Jake Sr. all braved the cold too. Ted had on sweats over his swim gear. Can't say I blame him. I am so glad I didn't go out on the boat. I would've froze!
Bear Lake has huge fish! Here are some up at the dock. Did you know there are rumors of a Bear Lake Monster? Look it up...you can read all about this mystical creature that resides on the Utah/Idaho boarder lake. It is quite funny.
Okay, so these are just some awesome photos that Ted got. I had to add them. I guess this tractor, a Farmall, is the same tractor that Ted's Grandpa Garling used when he farmed back in New York. Ted loves this tractor, and actually wants to buy it from the people who own it. I think it would make a great yard feature.

So, this is a photo of me at 34 weeks. I am now 36 weeks, but haven't gotten a photo yet. I think I still look pretty much the same...maybe a little more swollen since I am really retaining water. Only 4 more weeks to go! It is crazy to think about! Ted and I are starting to get quite nervous about having a baby. It is such a big responsibility, and we want to do a good job at raising the little guy. Guess we only have 4 more weeks to worry about it, and then we will be put to the test. Ha ha...we need all the prayers and luck we can get. :)
I hear the last month is the worst, and I am already feeling it. The swelling is awful, but I also have some major water retention and itching. I think the itching is my least favorite of everything I have, aside from heartburn and lack of sleep. Braxton Hicks contractions aren't my favorite, getting those more and more now. Oh, and the backaches, tingly hands and feet aren't the greatest either. I am amazed at how many muscle cramps I get, especially in my calves and feet. Sometimes they happen while I am asleep and they wake me right up in the middle of the night. Having to go pee is another crazy thing. I can't believe how many times I go, even at night. I used to never have to use the bathroom at night, and now I do at least 2 to 3 times a night. I feel so bad for Ted, who wakes up when I leave the room. He is getting just as much of the lack of sleep and sympathy pains for me. Like, when I was sick in Utah, he was the one who took the pail of throw up and threw it away. And, he was the one who pumped the sewage out of the trailer. Poor guy is a trooper. I sure love him! I don't know what I would do without him. It makes me so grateful for all he does! I am so abundantly blessed!!! If it weren't for him, I don't think I would've been able to make it through these last 8 months.

Laundry Detergent/Softener

Okay, so I am sending this out to all the moms out there: Which kind of laundry detergent/ softener is best for washing baby clothes, blankets, bedding, etc.? I am debating on what kind to use. I would love any and all suggestions. Also, when did you wash your baby clothes? The month before the baby got here, or a week or two before?
On another note: What did you pack in your hospital bag? I've seen lots of lists, but would like suggestions from real moms.
And, did you do a birth plan? If you did, did you stick to it? Or is it more of an outline that can be broken at any time?
Did any of you take birthing/ breastfeeding classes? I still haven't taken any, and am feeling like I am behind. If you did take them, did they help, or were they worth your time?
I would like any feedback, because I really haven't talked to anyone about this kind of stuff. Thanks so much!!!

Some Maternity Pictures

We had a maternity photo shoot, and here are some of the pictures. We go to the photographer today to pick out photos we like. So, we might have more to post later! These are just some of the ones she liked the best. Enjoy!

We really enjoyed our session. We got our pictures done by a girl I went to high school with, Kayla Evans. She co-owns a studio/salon in Blackfoot called Paisley Studios. It was a lot of fun working with her. She had some fun ideas and places to snap photos.

Here is a link to a music video of our photos that the photographer put together. Ted LOVES the song.

32 weeks

Well, we are at a big bench mark...32 weeks, which means only 8 more weeks to go. Can't believe little baby Hesston will be here in less than two months now. It is crazy, as much as I prepare with baby stuff and research, I still don't feel a single bit more prepared to care for a baby than I did before I got pregnant. I wish there was some way I could feel more confident about this whole endeavour. I guess most moms probably feel the same way as I do before they have their first child, completely unprepared. I don't think anything can really prepare us for kids. They just kind of come with their own package and we just get to hold on for the ride of their lives, trying to keep us and them alive. Wish us luck!
