Harvest Time

Look at cute little Smokey! He is sitting in our kitchen window (one of his favorite look out spots). I also love how green our lawn and bushes are! That has taken so much work to bring the lawn and yard to look so good. The last couple families that lived here before we did, did not do a thing with the yard, so it looked like crap. Thank heavens it looks so much better now!

This is the view I have over our fence in the front of our house. Isn't it so pretty with the wheat about ready to harvest? We are going to be starting our wheat harvest in about a week. It gets crazy around here when we start harvesting. Right now we are harvesting our second crop of hay, and we still have at least a week or two left of it...so we will be doing wheat and hay at the same time!!! Craziness!

These are some beans I picked this morning out of my mom's garden. She is so cute! She says that as long as you pick them you can have them. I love fresh picked fruits and veggies, so I am way excited about this plan. Don't they look great! I am going to cook them for lunch! Yum!

Summer is the best time of the year! I can't believe how quickly this summer is going by! It will be August tomorrow! We are going to the War Bonnet Rodeo tonight and I am so excited! We are staying for the concert after...it is Collin Ray, and I swear, Ted like loves him!

Anyway, we will also be at a family reunion this weekend, so I am hoping that I will get lots of pics so I can post them up here for the family! Love you all!

The hike was like 1 mile, but it was all uphill, and we really weren't prepared for it. Except for Jimmy who bought a walking stick!

Jackson Hole

We had a lot of fun up at Jackson! The first night (Thursday) Ted and I brought up our dutch ovens and cooked BBQ Chicken, Cheesy Potatoes, and Peach Cobbler. We all just sat around the dutch ovens at the condo and talked. It was fun! Ted's dad and brother Adam came up and ate dinner and stayed with us the first night. There was me, Ted, Jimmy, Verusca, and Windsor that all stayed in the condo. It was such a nice condo! It was 3 stories, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath, with a nice kitchen, dining room, porch, and living room, and had a beautiful western theme. It was just recently remodeled, so it was all brand new stuff inside, which was way over the top of what we were expecting. It was also located perfectly for all the activities we did.
Anyway, the second day (Friday) we went through the Grand Teton National Park. We went to Jenny Lake and rode a boat across the lake and hiked up to this waterfall called, Hidden Waterfall. It was beautiful! I couldn't believe how many people were there. Later that evening, we went to the Million Dollar Cowboy Steakhouse (it is under the bar) and had dinner. It was really nice. The food was great, and priced accordingly. After dinner, we walked around town and went to the Alpine Slides. They were way fun! Then we got ice cream and went to the local Jackson County Fair. It was way fun! They had an awesome animal petting zoo we went through, and then we went on a couple rides. One was like the Tidal Wave at Lagoon, and the other one was crazy! I can't even explain it, but after you get off the ride, you can barely even walk. So, that was a full day and a fun night!
The next day (Saturday) we went rafting the Snake River. It was a lot of fun. I had been on the river once before when I was in junior high and remembered it as way scary. This time it wasn't scary at all, but just really wet! We went on a small raft that carried only 6 people, so it made it more wet and fun! Rafting took most of the day. So, that night we went to Bar J Wranglers. It was fun! A lot of their jokes were the same as last year, but they played a lot of new songs that were awesome! The dinner was way good too.
On Sunday, we packed up and moved out of the condo in the morning. Then, Ted and I decided that we would drive up through Yellowstone on our way home instead of going back with the rest of the group through Driggs, etc. So, it was a lot of fun! We ate lunch at the Signal Mountain Lodge, and it was so good! We got to eat out on the deck and look over the lake...way pretty! Then, we drove up to Yellowstone and stopped at Old Faithful. I remember thinking that Old Faithful was huge, but it seemed a little smaller than I remember this time. I think it is probably because I am older and have grown up since I last saw it. But, it was still way cool. I couldn't believe how many people there were there (probably over 500)! Anyway, we finally finished our park drive and came home. We are so glad to be home! Just after we got home, Adam and Morgan came over and watched a movie with us. Everyone fell asleep but me (like always), so it was another late night! All week we stayed up late and hung out...so I am excited to be getting to bed a little earlier from now on out...hopefully! This week we have the Romrell Family Reunion, and Ted's birthday...so I am sure I won't be getting too much sleep! :) Well, I hope that all is well for everyone and life is treating you all wonderful! Here we come...

This week, well Thursday through Sunday, we are going up to Jackson Hole! We have rented a condo and will be doing lots of fun adventures up there. I know that a ton of Ted's friends, and their friends are coming up from Utah, but we still have room for more! So, if anyone is interested in even just staying one night, feel free! It is both couples and singles that are going to be there, so everyone is invited! Probably the best day would be Saturday because we will be going down the Snake River on rafts as well as going to the Bar J Wranglers later that day! Call if you want to come up and hang out! We will be heading up Thursday afternoon and won't be back until later on Sunday. Some of the group will be going to Lava Hot Springs on Sunday on their way back to Utah to hang out some more, so that is also another option! We will talk to you all later and wish us luck that we don't die! Have a great weekend!

My little home improvement project

The weather today was so beautiful and sunny, with a lot of humidity, but then out of the middle of nowhere comes this big storm with lots of thunder! So, I checked out the weather report, and it does look like we are going to get rain and maybe hail. I hope that the hail will miss us, because that would be terrible for all the farmers who have wheat and barley about ready to harvest. The reason why I say that is because, all the heads on the wheat and barley would get hit off the top of the plant, and there would be nothing to harvest...hence no money for farmers and no food for people. Well, since it was looking like bad weather, I headed inside and did another one of my "home improvement" activities. I sure hope Ted likes it! I wanted to do something like this in the bathroom for when guests come. They have access to everything they need without having to fish through all of our cupboards and drawers. Purple???

I was a little adventurous one day and decided to buy purple paint for my laundry room cupboards. I was so excited to see how they would turn out, so I painted the day after I bought the paint...well it has been a long process, but here they are! I hope you all like them!

I love summer mornings! The sun comes up at 5:30 and it is always so nice to do projects around the house early in the day. So, this morning I am having Ted put on the baseboard in our kitchen. Since we put in new flooring, all the old stuff had to come out. I think it looks great! Also, in the mornings, Smokey likes to take his morning naps...(I think he stays up all night chasing mice, so this is the time of day he sleeps). Anyway, it is so fun to get all this stuff done. I am painting our back laundry room cupboards purple! So, when I get those done later today, I will get some pics of those up here too! Hope all is going well for you all!

I love summer flowers!

Every summer, I plant this planter in front of our house and some old whiskey barrels full of flowers. Last year, they overgrew out of the planters because I planted so many. This year, I was a little smarter and planted less...but I also planted ones that are smaller sized and harder to take care of. It has been a long last couple months, but they are finally looking good, so here are some pics of my pretty flowers!

P.S. I am really writing a lot today because I actually have some time to write, and so many things I am finding in life I would like to share!!! So, I think I might be blah blah blahed out for the day (hopefully).

Petsafe

For those of you who don't know, we have two dogs, and they love to run away. It seems like everytime we let them out of their kennel or off their lines, they run away and don't come back until they want to...which sometimes is never. So, we decided to try this new thing called an invisible fence. It beeps and shocks the dogs when they go past the buried wire through a collar we put on them. Well, we started working with them yesterday on it, and they were so confused about what was happening and why they were getting shocked, etc. They would look at us like "What are you doing to us? We are so scared!" They hid behind me so Ted couldn't work with them, and then they stayed right on our porch the rest of the morning. So, we work with them every morning for about 15-20 minutes teaching them that they shouldn't go past the line (they know the line is there because we put all these flags out in our yard on the line). They still go past it when they run really fast to the other side, and then they get stuck on the other side, so it is quite the process as you can imagine. We will be working with them for the next couple weeks and we hope it will eventually work so that they stay in the yard and don't run away anymore. Wish us luck!

Flying Rocks???

This is the sign that stumped me today! I was driving to my mom's house and I see this sign... so instinctively I slow down and read it...after I read it I thought about how I never knew that rocks could fly. You know, you see all those signs about how to "avoid windshield damage" and all but this is a new one. I guess that "flying rock" really is something to look out and slow down for. I would never want a flying rock to hit my car!
