Got Wood?

Adam brought the tractor up to our house last night after discing pivot tracks and shined his lights on us, so that we could split wood late into the night.

Here is the famous grain bin where all our wood is being stored before we burn it all this winter.

Here is the mighty wood splitter. Let me tell ya, that thing right there can really split wood!!! It was splitting huge pieces of wood that I would've never imagined it could have split.

Here is our wood after we had it all split and thrown into the grain bin. We didn't bother stacking it, because it would have taken too long.

Last night, Ted rented a wood splitter to help us split all our wood that we have gotten. It took us 4 1/2 hours to split all the wood and then toss it in the grain bin. We really underestimated how much wood was there. We had 2 cords that we bought from a really nice Native American man, and he even came out to our house and delivered it. We started splitting wood last night at 7 pm, and we finished at 10:30 pm. It was so beautiful last night! There was a full moon in the sky and not a cloud in sight, so it was nice and bright for us to work. Plus, we have an arch light out there by the barn and well house. It was especially neat because there were all these farmers out harvesting their beets late into the night, so we got to see their lights out in the fields. Adam (my brother) was out discing pivot tracks on our farm, so we saw his lights, and our neighbors were loading straw onto a semi so he was out behind our house with lots of lights. Needless to say, it was like a city out here, which is strange, because it is usually always so dark. After Adam was done discing pivot tracks, he came and stopped the tractor in front of us so the lights on the tractor gave us extra light. Now, standing and working in front of a tractor's lights is like being in a couple of huge spotlights, so we had plenty of light. It was nice of him to share his lights with us. Well, now I am off to diking pivot tracks and gofer-getting. Wish us luck that we will be able to finish up with our fall work before all the moisture hits. Love you all!!!
